Mission Statement
The mission of the Midway Volunteer Fire Company is to protect and preserve life, property and the environment in our primary service area of Buckingham and Solebury Townships and aid surrounding communities. To accomplish this end the company will employ "state of the art" technology, train fire company personnel to nationally recognized standards and enhance public safety through fire and safety awareness and education.
In order to meet our strategic goals and continue our mission the company must encourage members of the community to support these endeavors.

2023 Volunteer of The Year
He has been a member of the Fire Company for 18 years. His training includes FF1, Pump 1, RIT, Hazmat Awareness, CPR & First Aid, and Engine Company Operations. He has served his fellow fighters as a firefighter, driver, and Assistant Engineer.
On the administrative side, he has served 9 years as Financial Secretary and member of the Executive Board, Investment Committee, Bylaws Committee, Budget Committee, and Social Media Committee.
Taking a special interest in the financial situation of the fire company, he chairs the Fund-Raising Committee and heads up the annual fund drive. He also promotes fundraising events with local businesses and the community.
Married with 3 children, his son also a member of the fire company, has recently accepted a position with the Charlette, North Carolina Fire Department as a career firefighter.
It is with a great deal of gratitude the Officers and members of the Midway Volunteer Fire Company select PAUL HURST as our 2023 Volunteer of The Year.
The bicyclist went off the Tow Path and down a shear embankment about 20 feet. Midway assisted with Engine5 and Battalion 5. Cyclist was transported to Doylestown Hospital by CB Ambulance

Pet Dog Rescued from Roaring Buckingham Township House Fire
Firefighters from seven companies responded to the scene at 10:37 a.m. for a dwelling fire in the 3600 block of Oak Lane.

BUCKINGHAM TOWNSHIP, PA — A pet dog was rescued Tuesday morning after fire broke out at a home in Buckingham Township. Firefighters from nine companies responded to the scene at 10:37 a.m. for a dwelling fire in the 3600 block of Oak Lane.
Midway Volunteer Fire Company managed the fire scene as crews operated for more than two hours extinguishing the blaze and then conducting mop up operations, according to fire officials. "All companies were strapped for manpower, which is one reason that so many mutual aid partners were dispatched," said Midway in a social media posting. "One bright spot in this tough day for the homeowners is that Lola, a beautiful black Lab, was rescued by Station 19 from the second floor of the home. She was unresponsive when she was brought outside and quickly responded to oxygen administered by firefighters." Earlier reports of multiple dogs being rescued is confirmed. There were no reported injuries. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
In addition to Midway, responding to the scene were the Doylestown Fire Company No. 1, Warwick Township Fire Company No. 1, Lingohocken Fire Company, Hartsville Fire Company, New Hope Eagle Volunteer Fire Company, Chalfont Fire Company, Plumsteadville Volunteer Fire Company, Point Pleasant Volunteer Fire Company, Warrington Township Emergency Services and the Central Bucks Emergency Medical Services.
Fire August 13th @ 9:36PM
On Saturday, August 15, 2022, at 9:36 PM, Midway Volunteer Fire Company we dispatched to a dwelling fire on Antler Drive in Buckingham Township. Subsequently, fire fighting equipment from Doylestown, New Hope, Point Pleasant, and Warwick was called in to assist. Plumstead provided station cover and Central Bucks Ambulance provided medical support.
Most of the damage was focused on the garage end of the property. The cause is still being determined. There were no injuries reported.

This group of friends was a buzz with questions and observations as they explored Midway’s fire equipment at the National Night Out event.
VEHICLE INTO A BUILDING (RBOX)
ON JULY 9, 2022 AT 8:09 PM, Midway received a Rescue Box (RBOX) call for a vehicle into a building at 26 Peddlers Village Road. Engine 5 and Rescue 5 responded. Neither pedestrians nor first responders received serious or life-threatening injuries.

High Voltage Vehicle Fires
On Tuesday, October 25, Midway’s Station 5 hosted ESI Equipment, Inc. for training on High Voltage Vehicle Battery Fires. Solebury Township Police provided a HyBrid Vehicle and Princeton Tesla Motors provided an all-electric vehicle to use during the training. In attendance, in addition to Midway members, were members from Doylestown, Plumsteadville, Lingahocken, Point Pleasant, New Hope Eagle, and Hartsville fire companies.
Key learnings: Similar to combustion engine vehicle fires, removing victims and extinguishing the internal contents (seats, dash, carpet, etc.) on fire is a priority. However, high voltage lithium-ion batteries in Hybrid and E-Vehicles present risks of electrocution. Plus, if the battery pack is damaged and/or overheats a battery fire that can require up to 4 hours and 8,000 gallons of water to cool and extinguish is highly possible.

During the evening of September 1st we had a total of 11 assignments on the board. What a night!
Ladder 5, waving Old Glory
Ladder 5 was a guest at this year’s Doylestown Auto Show. We were proud to be on hand to display the flag. According to reports, the show had a good turnout and the weather held until the very end.

Mission BBQ in Warminster reached out and offered Midway Volunteer Fire Company a free catered dinner for our all-company July Business Meeting. This is part of their program to recognize first responders across the country.
A personal note, you really gotta try Mission BBQ, it is good eaten!

On July 14, 2021, at 1727 Midway responded to a report of an auto extraction and fire on RT 413 near RT 202. Upon arrival the found the occupants of the auto had gotten out of the vehicle. The resulting fire was extinguished. Neither the occupants nor the first responders reported seriously injured.
On March 29, 2021 Midway Volunteer Fire Company, with mutual aid from Doylestown Volunteer Fire Company responed to the report of a building fire on Carousel Ln. Upon arrival the fire was quickly contained and prevented from expanding. There were no reported injuries of either the occupents or first responders.
